In this video George Washington takes the Oath of Inauguration. Since George Washington was the first president this was the first time any man had taken this oath, what an important part of history for this very young country! In the beginning of the video Washington is asked if he is ready for the oath, he says “I am at your service”, keeping in touch with his humble side.

Once he is out on the porch he says the initial inauguration, which has been repeated by every president since then. “ I George Washington do solemnly swear to faithfully execute the office of the president of the United States and I will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States so help me God.”George-Washington-frame.jpg
